The SDSMT was born three and a half years ago at the introduction of the ChallengeX vehicle design competition.
The US Department of Energy, Argonne National Labs, and General Motors teamed to create the next generation of vehicle oriented collegiate engineering competitions.
Originally slated for three years, the competition has been extended to four to include a marketing aspect which is designed to effectively target and integrate strategies to create awareness.
